We are starting a new series on “How To Make Groceries Fit Your Budget”.
Don’t snear your nose!!!
Did you know that for a family of four that makes an average of 35,000 a year they should have a food budget of 12%? Not much right? We all need food to live and function properly but we don’t have to spend a fortune to do that. This series will help show you ways to make your groceries fit your family size budget so that you can stretch your dollar to other areas such as, paying off debt, auto expenses, or preparing for new family members.
Some would say that you don’t need a budget. There are a few that can say this is true but for the most, it’s not! Why do we coupon if we don’t want to save money so that we can plan or save for the future, right?
A budget can help you be more organized in your finances so when that job loss, or unexpected pregnancy pops up you aren’t lost and confused. It can also set home values with your children. The way that your child sees you spend will most likely be the way they spend in their future grown-up years. Let’s prepare ourselves and others around.
To get this started you need to know your goal. I would like for everyone to find out what their percentage for food should be in their budget. Crown Financial Ministries has a free pdf. document set up for specific family guidelines. Click and print below your guideline.

Once you have done this, don’t pass out or stray away from this new found knowledge. Instead, embrace it and realize that you will get there but it will take steps to do so. It doesn’t happen overnight!
Even if you don’t feel like a budget is for you, it never hurts to set boundaries.
Stay tuned…..
Are you up to the grocery budget challenge? Do you have a budget put in place? Do you have advice for beginners (the ones that just passed out)?

Why do they not have a sheet for a family of 3? My husband and I only have 1 child and plan on keeping it that way.
In reference to the comment above…
I email Crown Financial and asked them for further information on a family of three. Hopefully we will hear from them soon.
Great series. Thank you for the info. I do not have a budget in place but cool definetly use one. I will keep up with this series and take the challenge
