(Part 1) Newbies: Keep it Simple

Let’s first welcome all new couponers to Smart Shopping Ladies!! WOOOHOOOO! RANTS and RAVES!!!  Thanks to all the other Smart Shopping Ladies that cheered along with us.  We love you too!

We are starting this new series because believe it or not, there are new couponers out there that feel overwhelmed.

We were once newbies ourselves so we know how overwhelming it can be to see a coupon site and say, ” Wholy Moly, this is just way too much!”. We have been there and done that.

We want to share with you the best knowledge we have for new couponers. STAY SIMPLE!!!!

Don’t rush to this site or any coupon site and try to get every deal at every store all at once. You will find yourself running away from the couponing world and never coming back.   Yes, I say couponing world because there are so many sites and coupons online today.  We’ve even stepped away a few times to settle down on the deals.

Keeping it Simple:

1.  Don’t buy a ton of coupons and spend hours sorting and cutting to find yourself lost and discouraged.   Get one or two papers and pull the inserts out.

2.  Choose one store that you like to shop.  Trust us, you will waste more gas money going from, store to store, to store only to find you got a few items you needed and a whole lot of stuff you will never use.

3.  Look up the store in our grocery store list.  Then, see what items you can get with the coupons that you have on hand.  Don’t use coupons just because you have them.   Select items your family will use.  That doesn’t mean you need to pass up a free item in the store because your family won’t use it.  You can get these items also and be generous by giving it to a neighbor, donating to a shelter or sharing with a friend.

4.  Choose a maximum of three money saving blogs to search for good deals at first.  This may increase as you learn but again keep it simple.  You say why are you wanting us to go somewhere else?  Honestly, We don’t!  We would love to keep you all to ourselves but that would be selfish and you wouldn’t grow into the couponer we want to encourage you to be.  Other sites offer deals that maybe we haven’t found yet or that we feel isn’t that great a deal.  This doesn’t mean that you don’t!  You may want that deal so we want you to look around but remember us and come back often.

5.  Subscribe to our updates through facebook or through e-mail.  We post deals often and if you are gone away on vacation we don’t want you to miss out.  You can also see older posts made throughout the day by going to the end of the blog and clicking on older entries.

Now that we have shared a few ways to keep it simple we would love other Smart Shopping Ladies to help with comments and other suggestions!  Please click the “Leave a Comment” below and help other newbies.!
