I have been told that because I am a couponer, I don’t let myself enjoy other finer things in life. I have to have a coupon for everything is what I hear from so many. This ladies and gentlemen is not true. While I do enjoy getting and using coupons for almost everything, I do enjoy luxuries too.
For instance, my kids come before coupons. This doesn’t mean that I will spend a fortune on junk foods or other items. This simply means that when my kids want to do an activity such as, soccer, gymnastics, movies, etc. We sign up and get going.
We recently finished swimming lessons for two weeks and we will be starting soccer very soon. They are excited and I am even more excited about watching my four year old play in his first soccer game and my six year old advance to the next level.
Other luxuries include:
Hair cuts by a professional – This is a luxury because I can’t cut hair! I want to get my done by a professional and so do my kids and husband. They run when I try to use scissors for more than couponing! I can’t blame them! Trust me we have tried the home styling process and it was not a good experience for us.
Movies at a theater – While we enjoy eating popcorn and seeing movies at home once in a while, we like to get out and enjoy the big screen. Movies are not cheap! If you want to see something in 3D, Wow the price jumps. We have a Regal Cinemas and The Grand Theater that allows us to gain reward points for discounts and cheap concessions stands along with using Fandango.com to get discounts on occasion. There are times though that we get a whim and head out before grabbing these discounts. Spur of the moment is always fun.
*Also, our local Credit Union had discounts on tickets so when I am passing by I stop in to get a few! (I know… I couldn’t go without mentioning this discount! )
Date Night – My husband and I have always been told to never let date night go away. We try to have a date night every week. These are not always the cheapest evenings as with any eating out adventure. We like to enjoy ourselves and enjoy our time together so we will go to a movie and out to eat for the evening.
Vacations – One of my husband’s wishes when we are on vacation is to leave the coupon clipping at home. That is not to say, that I won’t stash a few in my purse for items I might need, get discounts from Restaurant.com or find the best rate on a hotel before heading off. This means that I leave the clipping and strategizing for when I get back.
All of these and other luxuries my family can enjoy because we do coupon. I can save money and use it where we need to or want to. I don’t feel strapped down because I own a couponing site or because I coupon. I do what is best for my family and what we want to live by. This is different for everyone and can change from week to week!
