There are many resources for coupons that do not require you to purchase the Sunday paper. If you already receive the paper by subscription then you probably have at least a one insert supply but what if you want more or what if you don’t want to by the paper?
Listed are 15 other resources for coupons. Some you may have to pay for while others are free and easy to obtain.
1. Ask your friends and neighbors. As a couponer we don’t realize why someone would not want to use a coupon on their everyday purchases. There are many who feel it may be a waste of time or if they are elderly, then they can’t get out to use the coupons. If you have a neighbor or friend like this, ask them if you can have their coupon inserts from their Sunday paper. As a thank you gift, give them something you might have gotten for free or cheap while using their coupon.
2. Stop by restaurants. On Sunday mornings you can stop at a restaurant that serves breakfast such as, Waffle House etc. to see if there are any abandoned coupons or newspapers.
3. Ask Your Work Associates. Some businesses receive the paper on a daily basis, including Sunday. If you work at a business that does so ask to make sure your coworkers don’t need the coupons. If not, have at it!
4. Hold A Coupon Swap. We mentioned in the Coupon Swap Series, three ways to swap coupons. There is a Coupon Box, Coupon Party, and a Coupon Meet. Other coupon swaps are coupon trains and forums. Look out next week for an intro into our new coupon swap forum! If you are interested in participating or you have initiated a coupon swap forum please contact us for more information.
5. Recycle Bin Dumpster Diving. This isn’t actually as bad as it sounds. There are a ton of recyclers out there that don’t want coupons. Go by your local recycle bin and if there is an attendant ask if you can get a few of the thrown out newspapers. Mostly likely they will know what you are after. I know a few couponers that do this!
6. Make friends with the paper route. Be friendly to the person who delivers your paper or the paper around your area. Usually these are wonderful people who have extras that would love to give them away.
7. Gas Stations Clerks. There are a ton of customers that walk in and out of the gas stations on Sunday mornings and leave the coupon inserts for others to have. Go to your closest gas station and ask the clerk if there are any coupons lying around that no one wants.
8. CVS and Walgreen Coupons. Use you ECB (CVS Extra Care Bucks/Extra Care Card) and/or RR (Walgreens Register Rewards) to gain coupons at the end of your receipt. Sometime you may even get paid to purchase the Sunday Paper.
9. Print Coupons online. This is probably the most popular way to get coupons. Coupons.com, Red Plum, and SmartSource are just a few companies that offer free coupons to print. These are free and most of the time you are allowed to print more than one of the same coupon.
10. Sign up for homemailers. We have set up a 3 A Day contact list where you can contact companies and request free coupons. If you need an item and don’t have a coupon then contact that company through their contact us for on their website.
11. Sign up for newsletters and emails. By clicking on the great sites button on the right side of this site you will be directed to all the site that you can sign up for to receive free samples and coupons. Even if they are just offering the free samples sign up for it because usually there are great high value coupons included. One of my favorites is Vocalpoint.
12. Search for Tearpads, Blinkies, and Peelies. Have you ever heard of someone that coupon shops? I have. Look around the store while you are shopping and see if there are any tearpads or peelies available for you. Tearpads are coupons that you tear off a pad. Blinkies are small machines placed in front of products that contain coupons. Peelies are coupons on products that you can receive a discount on when you purchase that product.
13. Magazines provide coupons. One of my favorite magazines is called ALL YOU magazine. This magazine provides unique, one of a kind coupons that you can’t find any where else.
14. Catalinas. Catalinas are small receipts that print at the register. These are rewards for shopping and most of the time they are a dollar amount off your next shopping purchase. You can find these are K-Mart and other participating stores.
15. Subscribe to the newspaper. Of course last but not least, the newspaper. You can call your local newspaper and ask if they will delivery just the Sunday paper and also if they have a program that allows you to get double the amount of coupons.
